A different view of Warhol

Andy Warhol may be best known for his iconic "pop" art paintings of the likes of Marilyn Monroe and the Campbell's soup can, but the artist was also a filmmaker and today the Museum of Modern Art offers a glimpse into these works.

Through March 21, MoMA will showcase Warhol's cinematic portraits and non-narrative, silent, and black-and-white films from the mid-1960s. Visitors can view film of notable figures in Warhol's life including Edie Sedgwick, Nico, and Baby Jane Holzer; poet Allen Ginsberg; musician Lou Reed; actor Dennis Hopper; author Susan Sontag; and collector Ethel Scull, among others. Pop-Tart pops up in Times Square

Children and adults who are kids at heart will be delighted by the new Pop-Tart store in Times Square. The temporary pop-up store pays homage to this nostalgic treat by offering such unique concoctions as Pop-Tart sushi as well as breakfast, lunch and dinner options. Visitors can also create their own custom box with their favorite flavors and even suggest some new ones.

The experience extends beyond food, with the option of creating your own t-shirt or participating in one of the store's silly interactive experiences.

An evening of music at MoMA

The Museum of Modern Art's free outdoor concert series is currently taking place on Sunday evenings in the Sculpture Garden.

MoMA's Summergarden series will feature musicians from The Juilliard School and Jazz at Lincoln Center. On July 25 the Juilliard musicians will perform concerts, while on Aug.1, groups selected by Jazz at Lincoln Center will perform.

A piano for all


Art can be a wonderful way to bring people together, and English artist Luke Jerram is embracing that idea with his public exhibit, "Play Me, I'm Yours."

The exhibit consists of 60 pianos placed throughout the five boroughs of New York City in public spaces that invite anyone (musically talented or otherwise) to play them with the invite, "Play me, I'm yours." The pianos are available from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily through July 5.

As a means of further engagement, people are invited to share their experiences with the pianos online.

Once the exhibit closes, the pianos will be donated to local schools.

A get-away not far away
