Warhol comes to the Met
From Campbell soup to Marilyn Monroe, few artists have captured pop culture quite like Andy Warhol.
Beginning Sept. 18, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, will pay tribute to the iconic artist with a special exhibition titled, "Regarding Warhol: Sixty Artists, Fifty Years."
Like the name implies, the exhibition not only celebrates Warhol, it also showcases other artists who have been influenced by his works. Prime examples of Warhol's paintings, sculpture and films will be shown alongside those by other artists to show how he has influenced creators over the years.
The exhibition will feature five thematic sections: "Daily News: From Banality to Disaster," "Portraiture: Celebrity and Power," "Queer Studies: Shifting Identities," "Consuming Images: Appropriation, Abstraction, and Seriality," and "No Boundaries: Business, Collaboration, and Spectacle."
Whether you are a fan of art, pop culture or simply need an excuse to visit the Met, this exhibition is for you.
