This December, one the world's greatest symphony orchestras is making a rare stateside appearance.
On Dec. 14, 15 and 18, Japan's Saito Kinen Orchestra will take the stage at the renowned Carnegie Hall to perform Toru Takemitsu's November Steps, Berlioz's Symphonie fantastique and Britten's legendary War Requiem, among others.
Saito Kinen's appearance at Carnegie Hall is part of JapanNYC, a citywide festival led by artistic director Seiji Ozawa that celebrates Japanese art and culture.
