Spanish Harlem museum opens its doors again

Cultural enthusiasts have much to celebrate on Oct. 17, when El Museo del Barrio opens its doors once again. The 40-year-old Spanish Harlem museum has been closed for more than a year to undergo renovations and is ready to showcase its Latin American works to the public.

El Museo Del Barrio will honor its reopening with an all-day open house. The museum will also introduce its new Carmen Ana Unanue galleries to host its Permanent Collection, its expanded public programs and its new El Cafe. Throughout the year, the museum will celebrate its 40th birthday with exhibitions, public programming, events and performances.

The reopening of El Museo Del Barrio takes place on Oct. 17. A $6 donation is suggested.
