Labor Day in the park

Instead of rushing out the Hamptons this Labor Day Weekend, I chose to spend the day in beautiful Washington Square Park. With its unique blend of street performers, families and students from nearby New York University, Washington Square Park is a great place to spend a relaxing afternoon people watching and enjoying time with friends.

Before heading to the park, my boyfriend and I stopped by Murray’s Cheese on Bleecker Street. We sampled some of the delicious cheeses from the familiar to the exotic and purchased our favorites along with a few items from Murray’s vast specialty food collection. With our snacks from Murray’s and a beautiful day before us, we were ready for lunch in the park.

A trip to Greenwich Village is a must on any visit to New York and the trip isn’t complete without taking the time to stop by Murray’s Cheese and Washington Square Park. Who knows, maybe while you picnic you’ll be treated to a performance by a street band; talk about a good deal!
