NYC Celebrates Earth Day, April 22
Established in 1969, Earth Day is set aside as time to educate others on the importance of taking action to preserve our environment. It's not a holiday as one might view Christmas or Thanksgiving, it's doubtful you'll get the day off work, but there is enough public interest to spawn a number of events worldwide. New York City has officially celebrated the day since 1989, and this year New York celebrates Earth Day with the same zeal and conscience. Grand Central Terminal hosts the annual EarthFair, featuring a number of environmentally-friendly vendors and exhibits.
