Need a laugh?
Given today's climate, who doesn't? New York already enjoys a reputation for hosting humor. We have Saturday Night Live and Conan O'Brien, and we're the setting for the some of funniest television series in history. It's only fitting, then, that we should host an annual festival devoted to the art of making people laugh.
The 2005 New York Comedy Festival runs November 1-6, and features a roster of today's top stand-up acts - hop in a car and see David Alan Grier at Caroline's, Denis Leary at Lincoln Center, or DL Hughley at Madison Square Garden. Or, if watching lesser known names duke it out for a comedy crown tickles your funny bone, check out the second annual Andy Awards at Caroline's, named for the late Andy Kaufman. (Or is he? His blog says different.)
